I used to jokingly say that “I had an unhealthy relationship with food”…

“I loved it, but it didn’t love me back!”

 

Welcome to Food Affair…

This blog follows my ongoing love affair with food that loves me back!

 

About 8 months ago I found a magazine in the airport called “Clean Eating”.   This magazine explained the benefits of eating “close to the source”…no prepackaged or processed foods.  Clean eating also focuses on eliminating sodium, sugars, and saturated fats (aka “unhealthy fats”).  In the following month I followed the weekly meal plans and began trying recipes in the magazine.  Along with my once a week Zumba classes, I lost 10 pounds in 1 month!  Not only did I lose weight, but I also gained energy (I was able to not fall asleep on my drive home from work!)…I stabilized my blood sugar, and significantly increased my health in other areas including lowering my cholesterol.   What I most loved about this new “diet” was that I wasn’t “dieting”.  I was able to enjoy foods that I loved…just altered a little to a healthier version.   In addition to my own health benefits, I have improved the health of my family members as well.  I have even found meals, snacks, and desserts that the kids enjoy!
